Those of you who know me are expecting me to say BodyStep is the best exercise. Yes, that is definitely my favorite exercise. But, it’s not BodyStep. It’s not running or BodyPump or even cycling. It’s whatever you enjoy doing! Seriously, it’s that simple. The best exercise for you is the exercise you will do.
Each and every one of us can find some type of exercise we enjoy. I began working out by walking and I hated every minute of it. Everyone told me walking was the best exercise for me because it was gentle on my aching back. Well, it certainly was gentle on aching back; most of the time I made excuses not to go! Instead of simply giving up, I proceeded to the library, video store, and Amazon to find a variety of different exercise videos which I worked out to in my basement. I seemed to gravitate toward step aerobics so when I joined a gym, I found one that offered a step class. That was the beginning of the end of my obesity and aching back, and the start of a whole new, happier life.
So, do what you love to do, whether it is walking, weight lifting, running or BodyStep, and do it on a consistent basis, ideally 3-5 days per week. If you don’t know what you enjoy doing, then go out there and find it! The only thing you need to start is a good pair of cross-training shoes so you can do a variety of activities without needing a different type of shoe for each activity. Then, visit your local gym, check out fitness classes at work or in your community, or visit your local library and check out videos to do at home. Doing what you enjoy is the best exercise for you!
